Introducing Lost Sierra Development LLC, DBA The Lure

Lost Sierra Development was formed in 2018 by several members of the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship, a nonprofit organization that builds new singletrack trails.

These individuals formed Lost Sierra Development for the purpose of buying The Lure Resort in Downieville. The resort had been closed for two seasons at that point, and acquiring it let Lost Sierra Development provide an adventure hub for the mountain biking community and local families.

Today, The Lure is a 16 room resort on the North Yuba River. The resort offers guests the opportunity to get "a bridge away" from their busy lives, offering waterfront cabins and acres of forest to explore.

Renovated Cabins for a New Generation of Explorers

When Lost Sierra Development acquired the property in 2018, the cabins had suffered ten years of deferred maintenance and hadn’t seen guests for a couple of seasons.

The Lost Sierra Development team remodeled every cabin to welcome a new generation of travelers. Today, the resort offers 8 full-amenity cabins and 8 camping cabins.

Room to Play

The current Lure resort is set on 74 beautiful acres, but this wasn't always the case. In fact, this is the first time the entirety of the property has been under one owner since the 1950s.

When Lost Sierra Development acquired the property, they were able to reunite the upper and lower properties, allowing guests to rent a picturesque cabin on the lower property and explore the trails of the upper property.

After acquiring both properties, the resort was made fire safe for the wellbeing of the guests and local community, and the upper property has been cleaned up for visitors to enjoy the trails and 8-acre meadow.

A Cyclist's Paradise

While the Lost Sierra has something to offer everyone, from fishermen to casual hikers, Downieville has long been a favorite of the cycling community. In fact, the town is home to one of the biggest events in mountain biking, the Downieville Classic.

During this event, the Lure serves as a hub for the local cycling community, drawing in big names like world-renowned cyclist Carl Decker.

Open for Spring & Summer Travelers

After a challenging 2020, The Lure is looking forward to welcoming travelers back for a new season in 2021. Over the past year, the pandemic has driven people to reconnect with their local adventure options and encouraged more families to get outside.

The resort is ready to provide local Northern California travelers with a safe adventure. Cleaning and booking protocols have been re-engineered for the safety of the Downieville community, guests, and team members of The Lure.

Thanks to the property's quiet cabins, The Lure is naturally socially distanced. The resort offers touchless check-in, and the cabins are all roughly 40 feet apart, making this the perfect place to get outside safely. Enjoy an adventure somewhere where you can spread out and feel secure in your social distance.
